While I don't have an respond for you, it appears that this is an issue that has

afflicted folks for some fourth dimension. I did a search for

RAW (Canon CR2) corrupted when import to windows 7

and lots of threads popped up from various sources. I read a few of them and

didn't see whatever resolution. One matter in common was that folks were "importing"

using software. So my question is, rather than import using the IMPORT function

- can you attempt just opening Windows Explorer and copying a RAW file manually to

your hard drive and see if information technology is corrupt? I don't know what you lot are viewing your

files in either. I've suggested the gratis Faststone viewer to others, which seems

to be able to view most RAW formats easily. Information technology might be worth a try.

Hi, Barb, and thanks for responding

Each and every step of the process from USB connection through to display is a potential candidate for fault

I'm currently looking at RAM. If the RAM isn't functioning correctly it will disrupt the processing and cause errors plainly. I'g going to exam it with Memtest86 just as soon as I've worked out how to utilise it

I'll let y'all know if it works

Hullo Barb

I haven't got anywhere with this unfortunately. The files appear corrupted in whatever plan they are viewed in - Adobe Lightroom (v3.6 and 5.half dozen), Span, Photoshop or Canon'due south own software

I've imported via USB straight from the photographic camera, from a CF menu reader and from an external HDD - all with the same result. The files are intermittently corrupted. An interesting bespeak is that if I re-import - the blueprint of corruption isn't necessarily the same. Files that were corrupted aren't 2d fourth dimension round but files that weren't aren't and some are just the same - either corrupted or not corrupted

I tin can't see it being annihilation other than Windows seven. It'due south the merely constant factor I can find

It'south definitely not the the CF cards, the camera or the viewing medium

Any direction you could betoken me in would exist profoundly appreciated

Thanks

William

sorry to hear this. a web search for

windows seven import corrupts Canon CR2

turns up a lot of theories about a corrupt or failing hard bulldoze. or some slice

of hardware in the chain. since you've tried various card readers and the just

constant is the difficult bulldoze, I have to wonder if there is some kind of issue

there.  I've got a friend who is a pro photographer and who has used Windows 7

for years. He shoots with various Catechism DSLR's and used Lightroom and Photoshop.

I can't speculate why this impacts RAW files and non jpeg or the combination,

but that is certainly odd.

If you take a friend with a Windows seven automobile, it would be good to examination on a

different computer.

Best I can offer, sad.
